Makini Regal Martin is a published event designer whose signature style can best be described as a fusion of glam, chic and sophistcated and her love for shine, texture, prints and bold colors is evident in her design aesthetic. Whether she's arranging flowers, designing tablescapes or revamping a living room, Makini brings her sparkling touch to every project, wedding and event.
Trinidadian born and Brooklyn bred, Makini always possessed a natural gift for design and passion for all things beautiful. A true flowernista, Makini inherited her green thumb and love for botanicals from her two grandmothers, both avid gardeners and flower enthusiasts. After graduating from Columbia University and honing a successful career in management consulting, Makini ultimately turned her keen eye for design and zest for blooms into a blossoming business when she launched Makini Regal Designs in 2011.
After the birth of her daughter, Zuri Rose, Makini was inspired to launch her lifestyle blog. She hopes that her unique perspective on design, fashion, home décor and motherhood will inspire other women and aspiring designers alike to follow their passion.
Makini’s design work has been published in New York Magazine, Essence, Design Sponge, Style Me Pretty, The Knot, Bridal Guide and Munaluchi Bride, to name a few. Her work was also featured on Bravo's "Blood, Sweat and Heels," as well as Vh1's “Love and Hip Hop” live wedding broadcast. She is currently working on her first book.
When not immersed in all things flowers and design, Makini spends her days in her Brooklyn Brownstone with her husband Jason, daughter, Zuri Rose and their sweet fur babies, Laila and Simba.
