Designing Zuri’s nursery was one the most enjoyable parts of my pregnancy. I actually obsessed over it more than I care to admit. It was important for me to create a beautiful space for Zuri to grow in and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
The main inspiration for the room was this rose gold crib. Turns out, I hated almost every crib on the market but this one. Unfortunately, I waited too long to purchase it and the price went up after Serena Williams used it in her daughter’s nursery.
Once the crib was purchased, I started sourcing the dresser/changing table. I knew that I wanted to go vintage so I searched high and low for the perfect piece which I eventually found on Craigslist. It even came with a custom piece of glass which was a great bonus. I customized the dresser by painting it a shade of millennial pink and spraying the handles gold.
My next project in the room, was the wall decal. I knew I wanted to include some floral elements in the room and I am obsessed with how great the peony decals came out. It’s the one element in the room that I think adds the most impact and drama.
We opted not to buy a rocking chair and used a tufted settee instead. Truth be told, I was astonished by how much gliders and rocking chairs cost! All of the ones I liked were over $1,500 which I just could not justify paying for.
Adding all the final details like the acrylic book shelves, gold giraffe and ornate black mirror gave the room a modern flair that I absolutely love.

Thank you so much, Mellanee <3
I love the crib mid-room idea- beautiful and practical! I am currently shifting Annabelle’s crib far away from the curtains as she has begun to grab for them;)
Thank you! After multiple configurations, this one worked best.
