Green With Envy

When my best friend, Nia, is not acting on hit shows like Dear White People, you can find her spreading her love of décor through her design company House of Jervier. When she called and asked me to fly to Los Angeles co-design a very special interior design project, I jumped at the opportunity to not only work and spend time with her but also to recharge my battery.

Nia and I are kindred spirits. We speak the same design language and have pretty identical philosophies on designing a space. In all of our décor projects, we strive to encourage and inspire others to elevate their home in both practical and comfortable ways all while being chic and sophisticated. Also, we live for Hollywood Regency style and thrifting for vintage gems (see black credenza).

We believe that how you live is the source of you who are. And having a beautiful living space, that reflects your lifestyle, will change how you cook in your kitchen, eat at your dining table, enjoy time in your family room and even sleep in your bed.

Nia was hired by our High School friend, Thembi and her beau Hank to decorate their gorgeous new apartment. They are both writers, producers and directors and we wanted to create a space for them that would serve as an oasis away from their busy careers.

Their apartment was a perfect blank canvas with lots or original details and tons of natural light. We wanted to keep the rooms clean and airy but also wanted some bold and impactful elements in the space.

Using a gorgeous emerald shade, gave us the high impact that we were looking for without being overpowering. We paired the jewel tone with brass and wooden elements and pops of palm details to elevate the design.

Nia and I are beyond happy with how the space turned out and most importantly that Thembi and Hank love their new home. Designing this space sparked so much joy in us both and birthed so many ideas for future collaborations. Our hope is that this design project inspires others to invest in creating a beautiful living space that rises up to meet them.

Ladies! This is spectacular! I love that the room is bold, but not dark. The gold accents are gorgeous. So warm and chic at the same time. Every choice seems so intentional! SUPERB!

Thanks so much! We used an eggshell finish. I think the finish makes a difference with durability. I left the swatch in California but will try and find the color for you.
